Do you just wing it?

 Your 1-Minute Business Leadership Tip

Planning, Preparation and Practice.

Do you like to just “wing it” when you are making a pitch?  Or, do you start with the end in mind and plan, prepare and practice

Do you believe that 1 minute of planning saves 10 minutes in execution?   As author, Brian Tracy exclaims, “this gives you a 1,000 Return on your Energy!”
As the host of Seeds for Dream, I have a unique vantage point observing members listening intently to the pitches while absorbing the energy of the entrepreneurs pitching beside me.

The time spent planning the pitch, could mean $10,000 cash to the winning entrepreneur as well making important business connections pitching to a room full of member investors.

When you have four minutes to pitch (which is much longer that you usually have people’s attention) you need to make it count!

I’ve experienced four minutes fly by with a triumphant ending timed to the last second and I’ve experienced four minutes drag by and having to cut off the pitch because time is up.

Like any performance, humour helps to engage the audience, but when asking for people’s hard-earned money, those entrepreneurs pitching earn the respect of the members when it’s clear that they have put in the necessary work to prepare and practice their pitch and take the opportunity before them seriously.

I believe we can all put in more to planning our “pitch” no matter what stage you are in life or business.  That is, only if we want a better return on our money, time and energy, right?
